DREAM STUDIES : Real dreams about guns and knives
--------------------------
THE DREAM - I was with some friends I couldnt recognise. we were in someplace that looks like a farm. We were surrounded by snakes like cobras and vipers. All my friends were scared to kill them but I took up courage and attacked killing like five of them. I hit them on their heads with my belt head.
THE REALITY The dreamer was wanting to start a business. Yet several of his friends had been trying to discourage him. The dreamer was really wanting to move forward despite these warnings.
THE INTERPRETATION Many people point out that dreams link to our deepest feelings. If that is so then try writing down some of these. Many dreams do in fact link to new thoughts and feelings. They capture key emotions or insights. In real life this dreamer mentioned how he was wanting to start up a new business. He was being discouraged by some friends. Yet he did not care and wanted to go ahead with his new venture. In fact if you study this dream it exactly portrays this very thought.
The courage he shows symbolizes his present state of mind. He is aware of the dangers of setting up a new business since he is tackling snakes. Yet he is up for the challenge. This just really portrays his present state of mind. The fear that the others show symbolizes his friends who were trying to discourage him. It was simply portraying their own fears for his business venture.
Symbolic Meanings
COURAGE : The dreamer was really wanting to ignore warnings and just take up the challenge of a new business
KILL SNAKES : Tackle the problems and take up the challenge of a new business
SNAKES : Problems with starting a new business - pointed out by the dreamers friends
DREAM MEANING The dream captures the following feeling within the dreamer
- "I want to start up a new business. Some friends keep pointing out the problems right now yet I will not be discouraged. ".
See how the Symbolic meaning portray the dreamers state of mind towards a new business venture and his attitude towards those who were discouraging him
------------------------------------
THE DREAM - I am fighting with this man. We are struggling hard. Then
I think I am watching the fight. At one stage one of the men points a gun
at the others horse. This wins the fight because the man does not want to
have his horse shot. His horse even realises that it is going to be shot and
appears very nervous.
Then I am upstairs at my granddads workshop. Cannot remember anything else
from there then someone is pointing at me.
Then at one point I am standing up and sitting down really fast. Suddenly
someone else is sat next to me - we seem to be connected and in front of me
are two men who seem to be connected. One of them is very weird.
THE REALITY The day before the dream the dreamer had taken part in a very
heated discussion. His friend had been going through a trauma with people
who were attacking her character. Realising the intense nature of the discussion
he then decided that he should step very carefully with this matter. He felt
that he too could become the target of the passionate arguments. That arguments
could be twisted and connections made to himself. If he started to point out
the flaws in the arguments of his friend then maybe he would become the target.
THE INTERPRETATION So how can we link the dream to the reality. Horses are
always symbols of intense passion and energy. They can easily represent the
dreamers friend and her passionate views - she was in a mood to take anything
in her path. The horse knowing it is going to be shot is perhaps symbolic
of the need to recognise that passion. The message then was that the dreamer
should be careful how he treads. He feared that he could easily be dragged
into the debate which was something he wanted to avoid.
The first scene also deals with the different perspectives. He had tried to
stay unbiased and perhaps try to present the other side of the story to his
friend. That is symbolised by the changing perspectives.
The scene in my granddads workshop links grandfathers with working. Grandfathers
symbolise wisdom and experience - so that relates to the dreamers need to
use wisdom and use all the experience he had to handle the situation.
For the dreamer the last part of the dream symbolised a connection. He felt
that he and the weird man were connected in some way. So therefor this symbolises
the need to tread carefully with his friend or else she might turn her guns
on him. She was obviously very passionate about her thoughts and if he became
too involved with the "other side" she might make some weird connections and
then turn her sights on him.
So overall the dream symbolises the need to tread carefully during this difficult
situation. At first he wanted to present a possible alternative viewpoint.
Yet then he decided it was best to just tread carefully. He should recognise
the delicate nature of the situation and support his friend. He should recognise
the passion of her views and support not question her. Pointing out the flaws
in her arguments was not the best course of action. It may link him with the
opposition. From which point she may make some weird connection and turn the
guns on him
Symbolic Meanings
FRONT : immediately obvious parts
GRANDDAD : "the passage of time - allowing the dreamers friend time to
calm down"
GUN : "focusing on something in particular - aiming at people she blames"
HORSE : "realising the dreamers friends passion on this matter. Noticing
how unpredictable she is"
MAN : "male emotions - realising that he should not push things too much"
WORKSHOP : "working on some emotional situation"
UPSTAIRS : "coming to a conclusion on some matter"
DREAM MEANING The dream captures the following feeling within the dreamer
- "I realise she is still very upset about this. She was blamed unfairly.
I do not want to get too much involved right now because if I start trying
to talk to her she may turn on me.She is in an unpredictable mood. I think
time will help her sort this out".

------------------------------------
DREAM TIP: Dreams are about our feelings. So when a fight occurs in
our dreams it means that we feel as if we are fighting against something.
Think about what things you have been fighting against in real life. Are you
fighting against someone who is being confrontational? Are you fighting against
something that you disagree with. Are you fighting against your own poor self
image and a wish for greater recognition.
------------------------------------
THE DREAM I was sort of floating over Harvard and the grounds, and
the campus and was enjoying the beautiful scenery - in my dream, I belonged
there. Then I started walking around and met lots of people I know. Suddenly,
my eye caught a woman I did not like and knew that was going to do something
bad to me so I walked carefully behind her and slit her throat but without
killing her, I only wanted to give her a warning not to mess with me. Lots
of people come to congratulate me on the brave deed. Then I met a man, who
has a very high position (and is my cousin actually) he was with his mother,
and they congratulated me on my baby.
THE REALITY The woman whose throat the dreamer cut was actually an actress
in a silly movie she was watching before going to bed. In that movie the woman
played a very bad character. Before that the dreamer watched an episode of
CSI episode on a woman found with a slit throat. The woman from the first
movie had red hair - just like the dreamer.
THE INTERPRETATION Many many dreams are triggered by events from the day before.
If the dreamer has a quiet day then a dream may link to some TV program that
they got caught up in.
Knifes are often about issues and feelings that we are getting very involved
with. Its all in a very personal way. In this case the stabbing shows that
the dreamer really got involved with this TV program. So the very presence
of this knife shows that the dreamer really got into this film.
As we watch TV we also bring to the story issues in our own life. A TV program
may touch on emotions in our own life. The TV program obviously featured a
rich and impressive lifestyle. The mention of the baby symbolised how she
felt extremely proud of this at that moment.
Dreams capture emotions as they are formed. In real life TV will often stir
us up. If a dreamer watches the film Braveheart it may stir up some emotions
in the dreamers life where he or she wishes to assert their own freedom. So
in dreams the story of the TV program and the real life emotions that they
stir are mixed together in some bizarre story.
The dreamer was living seperately from her partner at that moment and she
was spending most of her time looking after her new baby. So TV gave her the
chance to feel involved with the world a little more and play out her own
emotions.
Symbolic Meanings
BABY : "watching TV makes the dreamer think about her own life. She sees
stories which capture meaning in her own life"
KILLING : "someone whom you dislike and wish to resist"
DREAM MEANING The dream captures the following feeling within the dreamer
- "I have been looking after my young baby. Often I do not get much contact
with adults. So watching TV last night I found it was a way of releasing tension.
I guess its just natural escapism".
See how the Symbolic meanings portray the dreamers current state of mind - showing how she managed to unwind the night before
------------------------------------
DREAM TIP: Dreams often feature strong symbols like murders and rapes.
But remember dreams are about our own feelings. We often feel worse than is
actually the case. We often feel as if we could kill someone at work or at
school. Look for the extreme emotions in your own life. Look for strong emotions
from the day before as they can easily trigger dreams.
------------------------------------
THE DREAM I was killing people by throwing knives at them. But my friend
was like a guard. I would hide behind her and when the people I were to kill
were looking for me, I would half pop out and throw knives at them and kill
them. At one point in the dream the people told her to move and she wouldnt,
like she was protecting me.
THE REALITY The night before the dreamer had a mini argument with her friend
in the dream. She spoke to her about something which upset her earlier that
day at school. The dreamer told her friend that she barely knows her. Yet
her friend gave a confusing reaction in that she gave no reaction at all.
THE INTERPRETATION It is amazing how often dreams link up to the day before
and some feeling on your mind about events that have just happened. So when
it is clearly shown that something happened the day before its worth looking
through the symbols to see if they correspond in some way to the thoughts
going on in your mind.
This dreamer felt that she was not understood by her friend and was not offered
support from her. Its interesting to ask the question - just how would such
thoughts actually be symbolised in a dream? Its not an easy thought process
to put into dream symbols.
Well lets have a look!
The dream features the friend acting like a guard. Guards are a symbol of
protection. Clearly that could link up to reality as the dreamer wishes for
her friend to support her and help her in the troubles in life.
People in dreams often link to issues involving behavior. They ask questions
about how we are acting or how other people are acting. Thats clearly a relevant
symbol here as the dreamer was confused by her friends behavior. It was clearly
inappropriate behavior for a loyal friend.
Symbolic Meanings
GUARD : "The dreamer wants help and support from her friend"
KILL : "a wish to kill off some behavior "
KNIFE : "the dreamers issues and disputes at school"
PEOPLE : "the dreamer is upset because someone is acting inappropriately"
DREAM MEANING The dream captures the following feeling within the dreamer
- "I am so annoyed at my friend. I was really angry at what happened
at school yet she was not really taking my side or helping me get rid of my
bad feelings".
See how the Symbolic meanings portray a key insight into her friends behavior.
------------------------------------
THE DREAM I had a bad nightmare last night. It started of being a snowy morning and the streets were pure ice. I was walking around and snow boarding. Some kids at one point started irritating me and throwing snow balls at me so I grabbed one of them and threatened to kick his ass. I walked away forgetting my snowboard. Later when I went back for it I couldnt find it and assumed those kids took it. After a long search I eventually found it about where I left it.
At a couple points in the dream I almost fell off a dead end road. The second time I nearly died, someone else was driving. The dream then led to me and a group of people being at the mall. There was something like a bad train wreck there.
As the dream moved along it got worse. For some reason the cops were after us, and somehow I had gotten a gun. We or I had later done something wrong and the police were looking for us. I or one of us shot someone, maybe a cop, in the leg or arm. Not to kill him, but to stop him from shooting is, and so we could escape from him. We were now in more trouble. Next we were back at the mall and an older police officer saw us and came at us with his gun drawn. I felt I was innocent, but he didnt know the story. I pulled a gun on him actually before he could get to his and ordered him to drop his weapon. People were coming after us and I may have shot at them. My grandfather showed up. The older cop knew my grandfather and said he had a gay crush on him or something like that. He was telling my grandfather to shoot me, but my grandfather was conflicted and didnt want to shoot me or the cop...? He was so emotionally pulled that he shot himself. The older cop either shot himself or I or one of us shot him dead.
We were all now in trouble, not that we killed anyone directly, but that we caused people to die indirectly. We were back at their house discussing what we had done. One person said we deserve to die and should kill our selves, and he did. A couple people in the group were girls. At first I agreed to go along, but after three of them killed themselves, I felt I couldnt do it and that I wasnt totally guilty and could live with what I had done. I checked the guns and we only had one bullet left in the weaker gun. I remember saying I just wanted to call home and say goodbye. I was crying while on the phone and couldnt explain things to my mother who was expecting me home for a dinner she made for me and my father. I ended up not killing myself and left. I left, but was at my grandmothers. She had heard about what happened on the news which was on TV right then, but she hadnt heard that my grandfather died until I pointed to show her was playing on the TV at that moment. She was very upset, but didnt seem as devastated as I would expect. Then the dream ended.
Earlier at some point, I was at my uncles in Easton and he had bought this crazy zoo/farm where he was breeding all sorts of strange things. For one, he had a shrimp farm. Then there were some other crazy looking mammal creatures that he was breeding, like these odd looking prairie dogs that were cute looking, but covered in their own feces. Just strange. But interesting that all the dreams involved my immediate family.
THE REALITY The day before the dream the dreamer had a serious talk with his girlfriend. She was upset with him because they had gone out the night before and he had drank too much. over the past holidays she felt he had been drinking too much and over doing things. She felt he was acting more like a 21 year old instead of acting his age, 30.
THE INTERPRETATION Dreams show our own inner voices. The discussions within our heads. The various symbols represent a particular point of view or feeling. Here its obvious to see what triggered the dream. The serious talk the night before is an obvious trigger anyway. Yet the symbolism seems very consistent.
The dream depicts some situation where the dreamer is accused or believed to have committed a terrible act. In truth though this recreates the situation inside his own head. He feels unjustly blamed as in the dream
Forget the details of the dream. Just look at core emotions and what is happening beneath the surface. Something bad happens - he gets blamed. There is a strong link to reality.
The dream ends with the dreamer being asked to kill himself. Yet he - as in real life - feels that the so called offences he committed do not justify death. So he it shows how he feels as if his girlfriend is overreacting. Making a big deal out of something which was not so bad.
Yet he also recognizes how bad things looked. No one was there to see what really happened. It shows how he realizes how his girlfriend must see things. He has been forced into a corner. He realizes how bad things looked on the surface and so has been forced into admitting how badly he acted.
Together then the dream pieces together a set of complex emotions. Feelings of guilt, and a need to be punished. Also a sense of how bad things looked. These just together show how he felt at the time. Every emotion and judgment is caught.
Symbolic Meanings
ACCIDENTAL SHOOTING : "This depicts how the dreamer sees the night before. things happened more accidentally. Things just happened"
GUILT: "The dreamer feels no guilt at how he reacted in real life. He did something bad but how he acted was not so hideous"
SNOWBOARD : "Snoewboards are associated with 21 year olds. The dreamers girlfriend thinks he is acting too irresponsibly like a 21 year old "
SHOOT HIMSELF: "Probably linking to his grilfriends belief that he should punish himself for what he did. He should realize his crime and admit his guilt"
DREAM MEANING The dream captures the following feeling within the dreamer - "My girlfriend had this long sit down with me. She is angry at me for drinking too much and acting in an irresponsible way. Yet I do not really agree with this. If she only understood how things really happened then she would see why things happened. I feel unjustly treated. She is just overreacting"
See how the Symbolic meanings portray a key feeling that the dreamer had about something that happened the night before. The dream symbolism actually portrays complex emotions and analysis.
------------------------------------
THE DREAM In the dream, I saw that we were taking a road trip to Turkey. And then the scene changed. We were crawling in this really tight place. It was like a sandy, muddy ground, and there was very little room to move around. I had my cousin, sister, and a few other people that I dont remember. Im not even sure if my cousin and sister were there or not. All I remember is, suddenly a snake came on top of me, and I started screaming and throwing it off of me. I was scared, but not that much. I was successful in throwing it off of me in the first try. Then we all started crawling out from that place quickly before the snake came. He then swallowed a baby! Out of nowhere, there was this baby. Now, in the dream, I didnt see the babys face, but I had a feeling it was my cousins daughter (not the cousin in the dream, another one). Thing is, the baby was much too young to be my neice, bcuz shes older. It felt like her though. The snake swallowed the baby, and I stabbed him with a knife. Then we cut open the throat, and took out the baby, who seemed to be alright, just a bit sticky and covered in the snakes saliva. The snake was green in colour with a yellow inner body.
I dont know why I saw my neice in the dream. Yes, Im very attached to her and love her alot. Oh and just when the dream was over, I saw a very happy, grinning face of my neice.
THE REALITY The dreamer fears that he will lose his mother because she is getting very weak and has diabetes and blood pressure. And she has had a hemorrhage in her eye for the 6th time. He was crying a few hours before going to bed, thinking about her.
THE INTERPRETATION
If something major happens the night before a dream then this will almost certainly cause a dream. This dream happened the night after he had cried for six hours worrying about his mothers increasingly frail state. Thats not an event in the real sense of the word. Yet in the mind this was a major event which was very real in terms of emotions. It definied how he felt about his mother. It showed his attachment to her. This almost certainly triggered this dream.
The snake is easy to interpret. It represents the simple fear that death could take his mother away from him. Yet the dream does end positively. Thats more important. The dreamer does his best to save the child. That shows how much the dreamer will do anything for his mother.
The niece is a symbol of his mothers increasing frailty. She is like a baby - vulnerable and needs protecting. The niece is also a symbol of the family. Dreams can be premonitions. But really this dream is almost certainly triggered by those thoughts the day before. A six hour crying session really will trigger a dream. So this dream almost certainly represents the thoughts floating about in his own head. The dream ends well so it probably shows that he is aware of her frailty yet is also aware that he is possibly exxagerating those fears. But it does show the importance of family to him.
Symbolic Meanings
BABY : "His increasingly frail mother - like an innocent and helpless child"
KNIFE : "Getting highly involed in this situation. Feeling highly emotional"
SNAKE : "Worries that his mother may suddenly be STRUCK by illness and death"
DREAM MEANING The dream captures the following feeling within the dreamer - "I know that my mother is getting older. I fear that I will lose her. I cried for ages last night. Yet maybe I am getting carried away. Maybe I should take this as an opportunity to make the most of the time I do have left with her. I am sure that we will have plenty of good family times left"
See how the dreams symbolic meanings build up into a complex set of thoughts forming in the dreamers own mind. A need to accept his mothers increasingly frail state but also a realisation that he was exxagerating the immediate threat to her life.
------------------------------------
DREAM TIP : The dream mind is a conceptual mind. Therefor try to think
about the kinds of conceptual thoughts and emotions currently occupying your
mind. Try to write down some quotes which capture your feelings on major issues
concerning you and especially events from the day before the dream . For instance
think of quotes like "I have been unhappy at work recently", or "I had a really
strange conversation with my best friend yesterday and dont know what to
make of it". Its quotes like this which interest our dream minds. Try to link
your dreams to conceptual thoughts currently rising to the surface of your
mind.
----------------------------------------
DREAM STUDIES : GUNS
GUNS : Guns have obvious links to strong feelings. They capture moments
when we focus our anger and argue intensely. So think back to the day before
and see how confrontation featured in your mind.
When you point a gun you are targeting something and pinpointing it. In dreams
there are several unusual meanings of guns. Guns can link to inhibitions which
have been focused on by others. They can link to precise arguments that we
are pointing out to others so think of debates where you have been trying
to highlight something.
KEY WORDS(Pick a quote which captures your feelings right now. Think especially
of the day before the dream) :
- "My inhibitions were obvious"
- "focusing precisely on... "
- "I told him precisely"
- "The focus was concentrated on her"
- "I got totally blamed"
- "there was a confrontation"

you feel resentful? Did you feel drawn into a heated and difficult situation
or did you start an argument? Just simply ask yourself what annoyed you the
day before!
KEY WORDS(Pick a quote which captures your feelings right now. Think especially

- "I just cannot stop thinking about it"
- "I cannot accept it"
- "an epic struggle"
- "struggling against something "
- "reasons to avoid doing something"
KNIVES: Knives are fairly easy symbols to understand. They symbolise
how we have become deeply interested and stimulated by something. It maybe
a relationship that has become very intense. It maybe simply a TV program
or film you got very emotionally involved with. It maybe an academic subject
that you are trying to understand. The dream simply shows that you are getting
highly involved either emotionally or intellectually in something. Simply
ask the question - "what could I not stop thinking about yesterday?"
